Call for papers

For more than thirty years, the Théo Quant Meetings have become an essential meeting place for the scientific community in theoretical and quantitative geography .
We are pleased to announce that the 16th Meetings will be held from February 7 to 9, 2024 in Besançon at the Claude Nicolas Ledoux House of Human and Environmental Sciences, in the heart of the historic center surrounded by its green setting .
Faithful to their tradition, these Meetings have always crossed academic limits for those seeking to measure and qualify the reciprocal influences between space and social, economic, physical and ecological processes.

Next February, we invite you to come and exchange and present your work around a privileged theme: From digital humanities to environmental humanities, what contributions does theoretical and quantitative geography make?

The other usual themes in theoretical and quantitative geography will also have their place, such as geomatics, cartography, remote sensing, spatial modeling and simulation, geostatistics, massive spatial data mining, spatial data and geoweb infrastructures, territorial observatories and spatial decision support systems.

Thematic sessions
As in previous meetings, two types of presentation are possible:
– either a presentation presented orally in session, for 15 minutes and followed by 5 minutes of debate;
– or a poster presented during a specific session and submitted to a competition.

For both types of contribution, authors must submit an abstract of 300 words maximum, in French or English, and including 2 to 5 bibliographical references.

The scientific committee will distribute the communication proposals into different thematic sessions.

Abstracts must be submitted before November 30, 2023 on the website https://theoquant2024.sciencesconf.org/.

The scientific committee will notify the authors of the acceptance of their proposal no later than December 22, 2023.

Workshops

In addition to the thematic sessions, several workshops will be offered, in particular a workshop devoted to the presentation of scientific software and IT tools dedicated to theoretical and quantitative geography. If you would like to give a demonstration, please contact the following address: theoquant@univ-fcomte.fr with the subject: Atelier ThéoQuant
